Stranded at Cagbalete Island, Quezon

Due to laziness, this travel should have been posted last year.

I saw myself sitting on the bus off to Lucena Grand Terminal Quezon, that was 5:00am. We planned this trip a week before the date hoping that everything would turn out really, really fine. Fare costs around 200 from Buendia to Lucena.

It was almost 9:00am when we arrived at Lucena. We ate our lunch at the terminal, and after that we took the mini non airconditioned bus going to Mauban port by 10:00am. The trip was around 1 hour and the fare costs Php50 each.

Upon arrival, we went directly to the market to buy food for dinner and breakfast since we just intended to stay for just one night. We also bought a lot of redhorse beer (yeah!) and a big fish for our "pulutan". We ride the tricycle going to pantalan. ( we should've opted to walk, its really near!)

Just a reminder, you need to be at the port by 10:00am since public boat leaves twice a day. 10:00am and 4:00pm. By 9:30am we were already at the port but we need to wait for Rickson since he was the last to leave the office. ( this is another story!)

More wait, we already board the boat but Rick was still on his way to Mauban. grrr!

The boat was about to leave at exactly 10:00am but we asked them not to since we need to wait for Rick!
Finally, Rick arrived holding a plastic full of charcoal! lol. We actually forgot to buy charcoals!

The boat's capacity is 60pax, and i doubt if we were 60 that time. hahaha!
Off to the Mystical Cagbalete Island, it was an hour of joyful ride!

i know eve, sorry! :)

A few meters from the main boat, we still need to ride a smaller boat to reach to island. We paid Php10 each.
At the port, locals approached us to carry our luggage and offered to take us to our resort, Villa Cleofas.
There are only three resorts in the island, Villa Cleofas, Pansacola Beach Resort and MVT Sto. Nino.

Alright, we actually need to walk around 1.5Km, or 30 minutes to Villa cleofas. Good thing, it wasn't a sunny day! We also asked some kids to take us to the resort.

Our way to the resort

After carrying all our heavy, really heavy stuffs, we arrived at Villa Cleofas Resort. The caretaker was nice she offered us our tents so we can rest for a while before cooking our Lunch or should i say, dinner.

I said dinner right? It was a feast!

After eating dinner, we got drunk! It was raining that night but (together with Rick and Eve, we still managed to drink all the beers! We were unable to build our very own bonfire, i know, no one knows how. It was a cold rainy night that we invaded someone elses bonfire. lol. Plus, we get to know other travellers camping beach (they own the bonfire, lol). We ended up drinking in the middle of the ocean with our table and new found friends.

It was sunday morning, I woke up at around 5:30am because our tent was wet! Wow, it was a stormy day! We were really worried since we need to go home by afternoon. Unfortunately, there were no public boats that day, we were told that the coast guard doesn't permit them to. We also heard that there was a typhoon, typhoon Bebeng, that day and we decided to just stay overnight.

Good thing the couple who rented the room near our tents checked out that we decided to get the room to stay for the night.

Instead of worrying about work, (it was sunday, and monday is a work night) we just enjoyed the rainy day!

The people who were also stranded went on kayaking! lol

Some went on fishing!

It was almost lunch that we decided to go back to the other end of the island, (we're public boat dropped us off) so we can buy food for lunch.
On our way, it was raining hard, there were a lot of people going back and forth, buying food and ice since they like us, we did not anticipate the typhoon.

After lunch, we decided to roam around this wonderful island we ended up at MVT Sto Nino, they're on the right side of the island, when facing the bonsai island.

By afternoon, the sky cleared up a bit, it was low tide that we decided to walk to the Bonsai Island.

I was really amazed how the ocean clears up when its low tide. Amazing!

The Lagoon, where fresh water meets salt water.

MVT Sto Nino cottage
Everyone was tired and hungry but still we managed to cook food for dinner!

The next day, we decided that we really need to travel back to Manila since everyone needs to work that night. We were still informed that there were no public boats leaving and we need to rent a small boat worth Php2000. Nice. Too expensive, but still.. we have no choice.

look how small our boat was

It was really dangerous, especially for us, no one knows how to swim aside from celine and piolo. Eve, who stayed down, was teary eyed while on our way to the side of the lighthouse. And, shouldn't be seen by the coast guard. my gawd!

We're safe! Oops, did i forgot to say, there were no life vests?
After that, experience,we rented a tricycle to take us to the terminal where we can ride a van back to Lucena Grand Terminal.

It was an unforgettable experience, nonetheless, Cagbalete was beautiful that i fell in love with that island.

Total expenses for 3days/2 night, plus the private boat: Php1800!

Travel at Baguio City l Day Tour

Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines, is a well-known tourist spot in the Philippines because of its cool weather, rich tradition and friendly people.

Last december 26, 2010, we decided to visit Baguio City, the City of Pines for a day tour. Yes, day tour! And to reach Baguio City from Manila, we need atleast 4-5 hours ride.

We decided to leave Manila by 11pm via Victory Liner bus at Caloocan. Armed with our backpacks, (and my broken heart, lol!) we went to Baguio City without any hesitation!

We arrived at Baguio City by 4:00am. It was so coold!!! From Victory Liner terminal, we walked our way to Session Road. Good thing we both have sense of direction! Lol. Upon reaching Session Road, by then, we were so tired and hungry so we decided to take our breakfast at Andoks, Baguio!

Alright! To start our day tour, we went the Cathedral, then off we went to Burnham Park! One of the famous park in Baguio City. One can also try boat riding and rent a bicycle to tour the park. We decided to walk around the park, due to some financial constraints (lol).

Burnham Park

I was so devastated when I saw a lot of trash inside the park. Before, Burnham park was clean and you can really smell the fresh air, but no, it was different.

After Burnham Park, we ride the jeepney via Minesview Park. We dropped off Baguio Botanical Garden to explore the nature! (oh common! i was actually looking for a tree that is really special to me!)

Baguio Botanical Garden

We also bought a lot of keychains and ref magnets as souvenirs.

my friend, anak!
We also tried to go inside the cave. ( scary as ****!) it was too dark for me, good thing i have my flashlight handy!

I was soo tired by the time we finished lurking around Baguio Botanical Garden. Again, we decided to just walk going to Wright Park!

Wright Park

And from Wright Park, we decided to climb the stairs and walk to the Mansion! I was so tired i really want to go home.

The Mansion

From the Mansion, we need to walk back to the other side of the Wright Park so we can then ride (did i say ride?) the jeepney going to Minesview Park.

Minesview Park

After taking a lot of pictures, we went to the Good Shepherd Convent to buy the uber delicious Ube jam, strawberry jam, Peanut Brittle and fruit preserves!

Good Shepherd Convent

After that, we ride the cab going to Anak's relatives so visit them plus it was raining hard that time. We actually took our lunch there. (free lunch, nice!)

By afternoon, it was still raining hard, foggy at the same time. I really can't find the exact right words to describe how my feet wants to leave me behind and get some rest. I can't walk anymore!

We went to SM City Baguio to eat and we stayed at Starbucks (whew!) while waiting for our trip, thats 8:00pm going back to Manila.

Total expenses incurred for this day trip was Php2300 for 2 pax.
Anak, you know i was having a hard time last year. Thanks for the company.. (choz!)
